A lovely, romantic day trip from Florence to Siena, get the most of Tuscany and visit San Gimignano, live and unforgettable experience in the Chianti region!

The area of Siena and San Gimignano, as the entire Chianti territory, has maintained an ancestral atmosphere that calls to mind the splendors of the past. Nowadays these cities are must-see locations for the discerning visitor who wishes to discover their unspoilt beauty.

The day trip will start with San Gimignano. Declared by UNESCO to be a world heritage site, is also called the “city of the beautiful towers” (or “Manhattan of the past”): here you can still admire 14 towers, a symbol of the power and wealth of its inhabitants during the Middle Ages.

Along the way that leads us to Siena, we will stop in Monteriggioni, a perfect preserved medieval castle, also worldwide known for its countryside of unrivalled charm, where woods alternate with vineyards and olive groves, in a landscape dotted with churches, farmhouses and villas.

Then crossing the gently Chianti rolling hills, we will arrive to a cozy winery, where you will taste three wines, extra virgin olive oil and sampling of balsamic vinegar followed by a Chianti style lunch, 3 course with locally farm produced food and “cantucci e vin santo”.

Next on our itinerary is Siena and its attractions, we will star from the famouse Basilica of san Domenico, a jewel of Renaissance art built in the 13th century and dedicated to St. Catherine of Siena. Then you will be enchanted by the splendid Cathedral built in a Romanesque/Gothic style and by the Palazzo Comunale (town hall). This palace is situated in the picturesque Piazza del Campo, in which the famous Palio takes place every year.

You will also have some free time before the return to Florence in the evening.

PRICE INCLUDES: transfer in comfortable coach with loudspeaker system and air condition, full day multilingual travel assistant, 2 hrs guided tour of Siena (the tour can be conducted in two languages), 3 course typical Tuscan lunch, tasting of three different Chianti wines, extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar and “vin santo”.

For small groups, up to 8 pax, the Tour escort could be replaced with an English speaking driver-guide, maintaining unchanged the entire program of the excursion.

The tour places was good overall. Wanted to spend some more time at the places. Our guides were organised and cooperative.

Valentina was a perfect tourguide for the day and the bus driver as well. However the local guide in Siena could be better.
