We will start with Piazza del Duomo and its Cathedral Santa Maria del Fiore (and its precious dome made by Filippo Brunelleschi!) and its Baptistery with the golden eastern door masterpieces by Lorenzo Ghiberti, and then we will move to Piazza della Signoria, where you will admire Palazzo Vecchio (Old Palace), Florence city hall since 1301. You are just a few steps away from Ponte Vecchio and anche the Uffizi Gallery.
After this downtown art itinerary, we will visit a Florentine Renaissance home and the collection of a British art historian in the palace once owned by Herbert Percy Horne. Just a stone's throw away is the famous church of Santa Croce where some of the most important protagonists of the Italian history are buried, such as Michelangelo Buonarroti, Galileo Galilei, Niccolò Machiavelli, Vittorio Alfieri, Ugo Foscolo and Gioacchino Rossini.
Inside the church you can also admire Giotto’s frescoes about the life of Saint Francis, a Christ sculpted by Donatello and several delightful paintings.
